If you are getting a Javascript error when you open the Notes app on your Mac, take a look at your settings for Safari to see if Javascript is enabled.- Open Safari and go to Safari > Preferences.
- Click on the Security tab
- If it is not already selected, choose "Enable JavaScript"
- Close the Security Pane
- Quit Safari, quit Notes, and restart your computer
Take care. -

Since the error is a Javascript error, you may need to update your Java software on your Mac. Here is the link to Oracle to download the most recent version of the software and to test it.
Download Java
Are you having any trouble opening Notes on your iPhone or iPad, or at the iCloud website?

Oct 23, 2016 4:06 AM in response to chris_g1by c.r.steiner,Thank you. I updated Java, but the problem persists. Opening Notes on iPad, iPhone or iCloud (Safari) works fine. The error message always asks me to identify an application to open the „javascript:void(0)“, but I wouldn't know which app that could be, and I guess that should happen in the background anyway.
