Q: Mac Book Pro Faint Warm/Burning Smell

Hi there, I have a Late 2013 Model Mac Book Pro (I7, 512GB SSD, 16GB Ram). I got it new with the extended warranty and during the first year of ownership abnormal heat made me bring it in. It passed all the fan/temp tests but they took it in and ended up replacing the heatsink.

The laptop yesterday was hitting over 100F externally on the keyboard and back of the unit and gave off a faint burning/warm electronics smell even noticeable from a couple of feet away. All it had going was a couple of Chrome tabs and Filezilla.

I brought it to the apple store and like prior, it passed all the tests but they took it in. Is this normal for these things? When I run even one virtualization via parallels the thing turns into a hot rock and the faint burning smell will go on till it's ended.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 10.0.3

tell them you have been experiencing worse heat exhaustion from the system since the repairs were made by apple

100F on the key themselves is not normal and the smell is not part of the package either.

If it's in warranty get them to revaluate their repair. Use the 'contact us' to speak with an Apple rep and make a genius bar appointment with Apple or an apple authorized repair center.

Thank you Jimmy, It's current at Apple for diag tests. Just the tech gave me the idea that all of it was normal and the keyboard getting that hot is normal since the case is aluminum and I'm questioning if I'm wrong for bringing it in again.
