iMessage and Messenger badge notifications won't go away

So I realize this question has been asked before but this is recent for me, for the last few days my badge app icon for my iMessage as well as Facebook messenger will not clear, and yes I realize I can go in and turn off the badge app Icon but then I wouldn't know if I had text messages or not as well as Facebook messages. I've cleared out my notifications from the drop down screen and hard closed all my apps but unless I hard reset my phone it doesn't go away, it goes back to normal for a bit and then comes back again. it's getting really annoying, my iPhone 6s is up to date software wise running iOS 10.0.2 so if anyone has any other suggestions besides restarting and turning off badge app icons and clearing all notifications that would be great, I have found that I can go in and hit edit and then hit read all to get rid of the notification as well but constantly remembering to do that gets a little annoying, i can also archive the Facebook messages to get rid of that notification but like I said all these extra steps and who knows how long those will work for! any help would be appreciated!!!
