Oct 20, 2016 11:22 AM in response to Allan Eckertby BudGR,Thanks for the info. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening and how to resolve it. The phone reseller, AT&T referred me to Apple support. Apple support had me reinstall firmware. No change after I did that. Very frustrating. I didn't see any helpful answers in this forum. I"m about ready to return the iphone and buy a different brand. I've been an iphone user for many years. Sad.

Oct 20, 2016 11:28 AM in response to gdgmacguyby BudGR,Yep I tried that. Wiped it clean, reinstalled firmware. same results. I have another call into Apple tech support. Thanks for your hint - let me know if you have any other ideas. Looks like a lot of people have the same or similar problem. Apple doesn't seem to acknowledge that it's a problem. Thanks again.

Oct 20, 2016 11:32 AM in response to BudGRby gdgmacguy,After restoring as new, does the phone work OK without installing any 3rd party apps? If so, then add your apps back one by one until you find the rogue app causing problems.
If the phone does NOT work OK without any 3rd party apps, then you have a hardware issue. Bring the phone back to Apple for exchange.

Oct 20, 2016 11:37 AM in response to gdgmacguyby BudGR,I'll give that a try. When i restored it the first time I went ahead and re-sync'd my phone thereby adding apps - and I don't have a lot of them - so I couldn't really tell you if it's related to a 3rd party app. If I remove the apps now will that do the same thing as restoring without the apps?
I had an iphone 6 that worked terrifically, but when I updated to IOS10 the problems started. Then I upgraded to iphone 7 thinking it would fix the problem, and the same problems persisted. I really think it's something in conflict with IOS10 but can't put my finger on it.
Thanks for the advice.

Oct 20, 2016 11:40 AM in response to BudGRby gdgmacguy,The fact the the problem transferred from your iPhone 6 to iPhone 7 would indicate that it is not a hardware issue but rather software issue with one of your apps.
