when i open notes a new email window opens also

when I open notes within a few seconds a new mail message window opens also. The message is always to the same contact. Any ideas????

To temporarily prevent an app from re-opening its documents and windows, hold the Shift key while you open the app.

This does not correct the issue. It is when I launch "notes" with in a few seconds the mail app also launches and opens a new message window addressed to the same contact every time.

Thanks for replying and that additional info, it really helps. Since that didn't resolve your issue, use safe mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Log into your user account and test the issue while in safe mode and then restart normally and test the issue again.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

That did not correct the problem either. Same result both in safe mode and booting back to normal mode.

Hello !

Please go to go folder and type : ~/Library find preferences right click on com.apple.mail.plist and com.apple.Notes.plist into trash .

Restart & empty the trash .

Please let me know before deleting these plist . Are they shown at right place as you are using iMac Late 2009 model .

The mail plist is there but the notes plist is not. Correction I am on a late 2013 iMac.

I found the notes plist in "group container/group.com.apple.notes/library/prefs/group.com.apple.notes.plist

I removed those two plist, rebooted and it is still the same issue. Launch Notes and it opens mail and creates a blank mail message window addressed to a contact (always the same contact).

Have you emptied the trash , we do not remove plist from group containers ,

either they are found in in preferences folder or containers , of user library .

If any application is not working , we remove the plist of that app , restart the system & empty the trash , so that fresh new plist is created once again .

I would also suggest to read , I have just posted to a post , you can refer it , how to install Mac OS Sierra in pen drive , and reinstall Mac OS Sierra . It may help you .

It never happens , if we open one application say notes and mails open by itself , or for example calendars , etc .

It means some system files are corrupted .

Please ask if any thing is not clear .

First let me thank you for all your tips and help, but I have found the problem and have solved the issue. It was that in notes, there was a single note that contained an email address and nothing more (like you would do on a note pad piece of paper) which has been there for a long time. It appears that notes under Sierra took a step to decide and open an email for this address. Once the note (email address) was removed, the problem disappeared was also.

Why notes would want to open an email, I do not understand. This has to be new with the notes upgrade in Sierra. I am not sure if this is a bug or a planned upgrade feature. For me, I hope it is a bug because I can not see it as a useful feature.

Needless to say, I no longer have a problem but spent way too much time resolving it.

That 's great , I think so in notes using Mac OS Sierra we can drag and drop web site links , images , you tube songs links .

Simple solution worked for me. Just open notes and type the email address in the search window in notes. Then delete all fields in notes and that should solve your issue. Worked for me !

What are mails doing in notes , and by entering mail address in search field of notes is something strange .

Both applications are used separately .Please try to explain .
