Disable sleep mode

Does anyone know how to *effectively* disable sleep mode? I know about the "Never" option under Sleep settings, but it doesn't work: my ATV4 still goes to sleep after a certain period, even after I've selected the "never sleep" option.

Why is this a problem, you ask? Because whenever Apple TV goes to sleep, it loses the connection to my Home Sharing library (I have a bunch of music, movies, and shows on my desktop). Reestablishing the connection is a royal pain: I have to disable homesharing on both devices (my desktop and Apple TV), then restart AppleTV, then re-enable Home Sharing on each device.

Didon't have this problem with my 3rd generation ATV, the unit stayed on all the time, and Home Sharing was always connected.

I spent the $150 upgrading to ATV because I was expecting more functionality, not less!!

Apple TV (4th generation), tvOS 10.0

Apple TV remains on when I set it to never sleep and home sharing isnt an issue after it has been asleep on my system.

Is the ATV up to date?

Have you done a reboot on ATV and router?

If on wifi try ethernet

Try a reset

Restore

ATV has the latest OS (it's set to auto-update)

I have to reboot ATV every time I want to reestablish the ATV-Home Sharing connection. Router is new & has also been rebooted repeatedly.

ATV plugged directly into router via CAT5

Haven't tried reset or restore yet...

Test on another network first before attempting the reset and use restore as a last resort.

What do you mean by "another network"? My internet connection? Nothing wrong there....

Either way, I'm not sure what that would have to do with the Sleep Function..

Take it to another location to test a different network. There is something within the local network that is likely causing the connection to drop.
