The most you can do to reduce the storage space required for photos when using iCloud Photo Library is what you have already done -- set the Preference to "Optimize Mac Storage." Note the wording in that Preference: "Originals will also be stored on this Mac if you have enough storage space."

Oct 21, 2016 7:35 AM in response to becks87by FoxFifth,I don't have any experience with Google photos or with trying to store 92GB in the cloud so my first thought would be to move the Photos library to an external USB disk and to also make a backup of that disk and store it offsite.
