Unable to install any pkg:s

I'm getting errors installing any pkg files. Seems to be valid for all pkgs, I uninstalled one app and run the pkg installer which fails for an app that was successfully installed 2 weeks ago. I'm guessing something related to permissions but I can't figure out what would have changed them... I'm on 10.11.6 and upgrading is currently not an option.

The common issue seems to be:

Been struggling for a while to figure this out, any help is appreciated. Would really like not to have to do a clean install (setting up a new user does not help, tried that).

Unfortunately those log excerpts reveal nothing that could implicate the reason for the failure.

I doubt upgrading would fix anything anyway. Whatever is preventing the installation cannot be determined. The only suggestion I have would be to boot "Safe Mode" and attempt to install the package while in that mode.

Thanks for your response. "Safe Mode" does not make any difference, I get the same error.

Try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Components may be missing from OS X. Boot OS X Recovery and reinstall El Capitan from the Recovery Partition: read "If you're reinstalling for other reasons" in How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support. Skip Step 2 because you will not be erasing your disk.

Create a Time Machine or equivalent backup first, as a precaution.

In the end, I had to little time trying to patch things up so did a recovery reinstall and now things seem to be back to normal. Thanks all for taking your time.
