Since updating my iPhone 6S to iOS10 I've had a weird issue where the phone will suddenly shutdown at about 50% capacity as though the battery is flat. If I try to power on it will show the flat battery indicator (the red empty battery and power cable image). However, if I plug in the charger cable for literally just a few seconds until the phone has booted again, I can unplug the charge cable and the phone will then continue as normal on the remainder of the charge for several hours. Clearly, the battery itself has plenty of charge and the reported capacity is about right but something is triggering a battery empty signal in the system at around 50%. I haven't tried a system restore yet but wondered if anyone had any other suggestions before trying this?
