Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you want to receive messages on the Mac. What are you selecting on the iPhone that causes it to ask for a verification code? I would recommend you read these articles, they provide the steps required to successfully configure the Mac.
Use Messages with your Mac
Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

Oct 21, 2016 11:57 AM in response to sterling rby suziefromnash,Thank you. I receive a text message forwarding pop up that requests I enter the code shown on my Mac to allow iphone text messages to be also sent to my Mac. Last week, I was able to receive/send messages via my Mac, not I am not. The verification code that is requested doesn't show up on my Mac.
