Q: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), OS X 10.10.5, is running very slowly

My mac is running very slow. This has been going on for quite a few months. Do you have any advice on how to improve my computer to make it run faster? Thank you so much!

My computer is very slow. It takes a long time to open new windows. Opening applications takes at least a few minutes. I also have Parallels and that also runs very slow.
