Q: iPod Classic 80 GB - add music problem.

iPod Classic 80 GB - 2006.

Model # A1136

EMC # 2065

Yes, it's old, but it works just fine!

Just updated iTunes to ver. 12.5.1.21.

Now I can't add songs to the iPod, even though iTunes says it has synched.

I restarted the iPod.

Now, same thing.

What can I do?

This morning I added 14 songs to iTunes and made a new playlist. These all work fine.

When I connected my iPod, it was recognized and iTunes said it was synched, but the new added music and/or playlist did not appear on the iPod.

I (properly) disconnected the iPod, updated iTunes, rebooted the iPod, connected it to the comp.

It was recognized, said it was synched, but didn't show the new music installed into iTunes.

H E L P !

In advance, many thanks.

iPod classic, Windows 7

    Hi bobd441,

Thanks for using the Appel Support Communities. Sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your iPod. If you are seeing it sync in iTunes, but your music isn't being moved over, you may want to see if you have it set up to manually manage your music. If so, the following article may be helpful:

"Syncing" does not sync any songs, unless iTunes is set to Sync Music to the iPod.  For example, if iPod is currently set to Manually manage music and videos (on iPod's Summary settings screen in iTunes), iTunes does not automatically sync new songs to iPod; you add new songs manually (drag and drop songs on iPod in iTunes).  OR, if iPod is currently associated with a different iTunes library (maybe your old iTunes library), it does not automatically sync new songs from a new (different) iTunes library, unless you associated iPod to that new iTunes library (which erases iPod's existing content).

If you're still having this issue, please post back with more details about your situation.  Are you trying to sync new songs from the same computer and iTunes library used to sync iPod's existing content?  How did you load iPod's existing content?  Is iPod's Music settings screen in iTunes currently set to Sync Music?  Are all songs on iPod in your current iTunes library?

    Hello Kenichi and alex_h1,

Thank you SO much for your help and attention!

After spending about 3 hours this morning, trying to follow the instructions from the links and your suggestions, I was in the iTunes window and (accidentally-on-purpose) clicked the little iPod-looking icon just to the right of the 'Music' window at the upper-left of the screen, just below the 'Account' button.

    Wellll...  guess what...?

...'Open iTunes when this iPod is connected' and 'Manually manage music and videos' were NOT chosen!

So I chose them both and

    hit 'Done' and...

...LIFE IS BACK TO BEING ALL GOOD AGAIN! I HAVE CONTROL OF MY iPod AGAIN!

I have my new music files on my iPod, and made a new Playlist so I can access these new 'songs' to help with pain management and some other health issues.  In case anyone is interested, and I have no other connection with this website than using their files for personal health help - http://www.binauralbeatshub.com/

Thank you both again for steering me in the right direction.

    Have a WONDERFUL day!
