Q: osx sierra facetime camera

Since upgrading to Sierra when running FaceTime the lamp indicating that the camera is active is always on no matter if FaceTime is the active app or if it is hidden in the background.  In previous OS X versions, the camera was only active if FaceTime was the active app.  Does this mean that the camera is always active when FaceTime is open?  Prefer that it is off if not using FT.

Cheers,

AFAICT, it is active; I don't see any setting where you might change this behavior.

This allows you, for example, to continue a video chat on facetime while you command-tab to safari to check a site your pal has suggested, or whatever.

Since you can receive facetime calls even if the application is not running, you can simply quit it if you are not using it.

I understand why they have changed it but would prefer that if there is no call in progress and the app is in the background, the indicator is off.  In my mind it should only be on if the camera is active.  Will post this to Apple suggestions.
