Q: iCloud Photo Library Initial Upload

I have a iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 1 TB of storage using MacOS Sierra v10.12.  I recently signed up for 1 TB of storage so that I can backup my iPhoto library.  The iCloud window i have open is saying that I'm uploading 54,488 items.  I've been waiting over a week for the full upload and I can't even tell what progress has been made so far on the 54k items.  The status progress bar is blank.  I finally tried restarting the computer yesterday to see if that would help but it doesn't appear that it has.  A speed test is telling me my download speed is 1282.98 Kbps.

How can I tell what progress has been made?  Should I be doing anything differently?

Much appreciated.

Be patient. People who had large photo libraries have posted that it has taken them 2-3 weeks for the upload to complete. If you think it is stuck, stop syncing and then start syncing.

The iCloud window i have open is saying that I'm uploading 54,488 items.

Is that number changing, even if slowly?

Check the Console window if there are diagnostic messages indicating a problem with media items  in your Photos Library.
