Because there was none in Pages v5+. Simply not an Apple design goal.

Pages '09 v4.3 was the last release of Pages that had facing pages, and support for another 100 features that were never added into Pages v5 or later.

    LibreOffice Writer offers facing pages.

It wasn't a "Apple design goal"??? What about those of us who depended on that feature (and others) in Pages '09 (Rev. 4.3)? Are we just out of luck? Why would Apple, Inc. defunctionalize its word processor?

    Good question.

Why would they do that to virtually all their recent software "upgrades"?

You keep using Pages '09 v4.3, and not lose any sleep over all of its missing features in Pages v5 and v6.

As Apple leadership and the Pages product team do not participate in any support communities, all questions about Apple's strategy behind Pages v5 and v6 are pure rhetorical speculation.

If the first two paragraphs are too much to bear, then migrate your Pages '09 documents to Word format, and start using a non-Apple word processing solution with the features, and future that you require.
