Oct 21, 2016 2:56 PM in response to Torireeby BDAqua,Try this & let us know...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)

Oct 21, 2016 3:23 PM in response to BDAquaby Toriree,I did kind of what you said, except there was no place to Repair Permissions,. There was an option for "first aid", but nothing about permissions. I used the first aid and ran it on the drive. then rebooted and the error message still came up.

I opened Finder and then got lost…

Oct 21, 2016 5:20 PM in response to BDAquaby Toriree,There is a picture of a closed lock at the bottom of the
"getinfo" on noticeboard. Is that where you mean to look to see if it is locked? up further there is a square before shared folder and a square before Locked. neither is checked. -

./noticeboard/com.apple.noticeboard.notification.sierrafor10115and6.1.0.bundle/l aunch-YmaK91launchd-297.lEzca6
-bash: ./noticeboard/com.apple.noticeboard.notification.sierrafor10115and6.1.0.bundle/ launch-YmaK91launchd-297.lEzca6: No such file or directory

Oct 22, 2016 11:30 AM in response to Torireeby BDAqua,Apparently you have no file… tmp/ct.shutdown
We need to look at the Rights on the /tmp folder.

Oct 22, 2016 12:14 PM in response to BDAquaby Toriree,ok, how do I do that? I found something under noticeboard info that said Sharing and Permissions. Is that what we need to look at and perhaps fix?
Since I have not installed Sierra, why am I seeing sierrafor10115and6.1.0.bundle
It has an Oct 1 2016 date on it. Did Apple install something on that date without my knowing it?

Oct 22, 2016 3:27 PM in response to Torireeby BDAqua,You can use the menu Go -> Go to folder and enter the path of the folder you wish to see in the resulting dialog.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Cmd + G to summon the dialog.
When that happens just type a backslash & enter key.
