Photos does not recognize ipad

iTunes is syncing my iPad, but Photos does not recognize it. (Not ImageCapture either).

I've tried some of the solutions in other similar problems found here, but none have worked.

I'm connecting by USB cable to my iMac.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Hi tahm77,

Since the computer isn't seeing the iPhone, make sure to follow these steps:
  1. On your computer, especially with Windows 10, check that you have the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect your iOS device.
  3. Restart your iOS device and your computer.
  4. Reset your Trust settings.
  5. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.*

For more help, contact Apple Support.

* This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

About the ‘Trust This Computer‘ alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Were you able to import the photos using another computer?

Take care.
