Q: iPhone 7 top speaker just stopped working

I have a rose gold 32gb iPhone 7. I took it in the shower because its water resistant of course and I never really got it that wet. I heard the top speaker just stop working. When i got out and and dried it off and restarted the phone, it sounded really muffled on the top speaker. The bottom speaker is fine. Did I just ruin the speakers already?

    Hi

iPhone 7 is splash, water and dust resistant, but it is not waterproof and should not be taken into the shower.

Apple advises that, to prevent liquid damage, iPhone should not be exposed to pressurised or high velocity water, including showering. Note also that liquid damage is not covered under warranty.

Apple's advice when iPhone 7 has been exposed to water includes:

    • Unplug all cables and do not charge it until it is completely dry. Apple advises that you should allow at least 5 hours before charging or connecting a Lightning accessory.

    • To dry your iPhone, tap it gently against your hand with the Lightning connector facing down and remove excess liquid. Leave the iPhone in a dry area with sufficient airflow. Placing the device in front of a fan blowing cool air may help.

    • Do not dry your iPhone using an external heat source or insert any foreign object (such as a cotton swab or a paper towel) into any port or speaker.

If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation to have your iPhone checked and to establish your available service options, timescales and cost:
