If you have not already, Restart your iPhone (and enter your passcode after restart completes)

You may want to restart your Mac too. Then try it again. If that does not help, and you use WiFi to connect iPhone to Mac for syncing, try using a USB docking cable instead. Otherwise, please post back with additional details.
