My lock button on my iPhone 7 Plus functions but it it doesn't click. The volume buttons click just fine. Besides it feeling bad and not giving any feedback that the button has been pressed I'm concerned it's a sign of a problem and may stop working all together. Should I take it in?

Thats the home button. Everything is fine with that. It's le lock button on the right side of the phone that doesn't click.
Check Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Lock Sound = "On"
By "lock button" you mean the one on the side? Not the "home button" below the screen?
When pressing the home button on the iPhone 7, the haptic feedback is slight. It is no longer a physical button, so you will not actually feel a click. It is a pressure sensitive area that reacts to pressure.
I realized after a while when I posted that, you referred to the sleep/wake button. Most people do not refer to it as a lock button.
It does not have a haptic response, but if you are concerned that it does not provide a distinct click sound when pressed, you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the device looked at.
I almost always have my phone in silent. I would just like the real haptic feedback that I get when I click my volume buttons.
Correct. The button on the right side of the phone. The volume buttons click like they always have and I know the lock button is supposed to too. I'm going to take it in tomorrow.
