Q: New Songs Won't Synch to iPhone7

Recently, I purchased new music in iTunes and added them to various Playlists.  When I synch to my iPhone 7, the Playlists synch as they normally with the exception of the newly purchased files.  This only happens with newly purchased songs.  Does anyone know what is happening here?  Thank you.

Purchased songs from iTunes Store can appear in your iTunes music library without being downloaded to your Mac's drive.  You can "stream" purchases (from iCloud) without downloading.  However, for direct iTunes syncing, song files must be stored locally.  So, one possibility is that these recently purchased items are not downloaded to your Mac's local storage.

You can check by selecting one of the songs (that does not sync) in iTunes, then right-click Get Info.  On Info window File tab, find location.  Does location show a file path to where its song files is stored on Mac's drive, or does it say iCloud.  If it says iCloud, right-click song and Download.  Or, if you see a cloud with down-arrow symbol next to song, click it to download.  If there are many such songs, you can select them at the same time, right-click selection, and Download.

If that's not the problem, please post back with more details about your situation.

Kenichi, thank you for your response.  I checked as you suggested and all files are indeed stored locally on my iMac.  Strange thing is, I purchased one particular track on iTunes this past August.  That one track synchs just fine.  Then, a coupe of weeks ago, I purchased the remainder of the album associated with that track and those are the tracks that will not synch.  All tracks are included together as one entire album in my Playlist but just the one track purchased in August will sync.  It is the only track listed in the Playlist once it is synched with the iPhone.  Other individual tracks purchased in the last couple of weeks also do not synch.  I'm losing my mind with this.

If that song is already on your iPhone, it's not syncing.  It's already there, so iTunes is not doing anything now when you sync (except not removing it).

Is your iPhone currently set in iTunes to Sync Music.  If it's set to Manually manage music, it does not sync songs automatically.  To check, select iPhone in iTunes to show its Summary settings screen in iTunes window.  Along the left side, in the sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  To the right, iPhone's Music settings screen appears.  Is Sync Music checked?

If it's not checked currently, checkmark it.  Then, set up that screen (with the desired playlists selected for syncing), and click Apply.

Hello Kenichi.  I checked iTunes settings as you suggested an I think everything checks out.  Here are some screen shots of the settings.

I then tried to synch again and I had the same problem.  Here is a screen shot of a Playlist in iTunes.

And a screenshot of my iPhone Music app of the same Playlist.  You'll notice that the last 13 tracks of the Playlist do not synch.

Thanks again for your time helping me with this.

The first two screenshots look the same, so if there's a difference that is important (that I'm not seeing), please describe...

The 3rd and 4th screenshots show the playlist "Regina Spektor," in your iTunes library and on the iPhone.  Is this playlist selected (under Playlists) on iPhone's Music settings screen in iTunes?  I don't see it (with a checkmark) on the first two screenshots, although you may need to scroll the Playlists list to see it.

No need to include another screenshot, if this playlist is selected for syncing...   So, based on the two screenshots of the playlist, there are 31 songs on playlist in iTunes library, but only 18 on iPod's playlist.  You don't get an error message when you sync, to account for the discrepancy?

Try unselecting (unchecking) that playlist, so that it's no longer selected for syncing.  Apply the change.  Using iPhone, confirm that playlist is no longer present.  Then, select it for syncing again, and Apply the change.  Using iPhone, see if playlist now has all 31 songs.
