Cant update to Sierra: Hash mismatch

I have looked through a few existing posts that report an inability to update to Sierra, and tried all suggestions to no avail. None of the questions I found included log data, so I will post mine here.

Scenario:

When attempting to download Sierra, the download gets to 10.3mb and then resets back to zero and tries again.

Cause:

Hash mismatch on downloaded update

Fix:
