Q: Why aren't my effects included when I change the sound on a certain channel strip?

For instance, if I add a reverb to a piano sound and then change the sound to brass the reverb disappears and the channel strip will be set to standard again. How can I make sure that the effects that I choose will stay there no matter what sound I choose?

Open the library - bottom left (little gear) enable patch merging.........

Thanks! It did help, but it seems I have to do it for every new project? I also had to save the sound somewhere if I wanted it to work. But it's better than not being able to do it at all. Thank you!
