Q: battery

Have a 2010 Macbook pro unibody  (MacBookPro5,5).   OWC has a battery for this for $99 (is this a good choice?), but I'm wondering if the little battery that keeps the date/time from switching to the year 2000 is also user replaceable.   Any assistance is appreciated.   Thank you.

Given there usually is a button cell for PRAM/Clock inside certain

model MacBooks, you may be able to see reference to this if you

look up your specific model in an iFixit repair guide. In some cases

their site may show example of the part and a separate list for price.

Your initial build model identification is of question, I see MacTracker

shows your MacBookPro5.5 is a '13-inch Mid 2009' model. IF that is

so, then a part number may be different. Or perhaps not listed as DIY.

IF yours is a 13-inch MacBook Pro5.5, should be within these iFixit guides:

    https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro_13%22_Unibody

Mac Serial Number info - Lookup your Apple Serial Number:

    https://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php

This site also shows a page of parts, in addition to the build date as

shipped information for your specific unit & place of manufacture.

Helps to validate the part number & voltage for button cells even if

you buy locally; be sure to get 'fresh stock' due to shelf-life concerns.

From my initial search (3x) I don't see a clock battery listed for these.

However there may be a capacitor that may fail after some duration.

More specs may be found if you search by serial number & look into

the powerbookmedic site, or into everymac.com specification.

    Good luck & happy trails!
