MacBook Air (2014) Camera

Hi there! I am having a problem with my 2014 Air, the built-in camera is not working for PhotoBooth, FaceTime, etc. I am pretty sure that this happened right after updating to El Captain (now running OSSierra) but it worked before that update. I have already tried to restart, shut down, terminal sudo killall VDCAssistant, and it has been diagnosed from the start screen as not working. I have also wiped it clean and re-installed using my Time Machine backup.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Hello AvereeD,

Thanks for your question. If the camera is not working on your MacBook Air and you've already tried a number of things to isolate the issue, here are a few more things to try:

How to Troubleshoot iSight

If after going through that troubleshooting it looks like this is a hardware issue rather than a software issue, you may need to have the MacBook Air inspected by an Apple Retail Store Genius or an Apple Authorized Service Provider in your area:

Apple - Find Locations - Country Selector
(Select your country, then click on the Service link)

Take care.
