Q: Freecom hard drive not showing on desk top in Sierra

Just upgraded to Sierra today. Freecom external hard drive not showing on desk top in Sierra, though Time Machine is seeing it. Actually backing up though has been 'preparing' for about an hour now?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Update. The back up did complete, so no big problem. Is it just that back up only hard drives don't show on Sierra? It's not partitioned so I don't use it for anything else.

And another hard drive that's not for Backup does show on the desk top. So I think I've answered my own question?
