OS Sierra MBP 2012 Trackpad Problems

Hey guys! Since updating to OS Sierra I've been experiencing problems with my built in trackpad on my mid-2012 MBP. Some applications the scrolling is erratic, specifically Adobe Premiere. Also, clicking has become an issue, I have to click multiple times and press hard for it to register but not on text-based applications or boxes. For instance clicking around this box there are no problems, but occasionally on my timeline in Pr, I click repeatedly on my clips before it interacts, as well as in finder when opening folders and also internet browsing on both Chrome and Safari. I've tried rebooting and resetting SMC. My last ditch effort will be to disconnect the battery for a bit and possibly disconnect the trackpad. Anyone else having this issue? It's almost as if the new OS is looking for a force touch trackpad and getting confused.

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12)
