iPhone 5 reports 200 MB free - iTunes shows 2GB free

I've got an iPhone 5 with 16 GB running OS 10.0.2.

ITunes reports that the phone should have 2 Gb free. The phone keeps telling me I am out of memory - when I check the memory usage on the phone it shows between 100-200 MB free.

Which one is correct? How do I fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Originaldiode,

Welcome and thanks for reaching out for help for your iPhone in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like there's discrepancies with the storage amount available in your device settings from what's displayed in iTunes on a computer. The first thing we want to ensure is that all your data on your device is safe. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch .

Once we know your data is safe, please open this help article: How OS X and iOS report storage capacity . It goes over how iOS reports the storage on your device. This second help article will assist you in checking what exactly is using up your data: Check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch .

Hope this helps and have a great rest of your day.
Regards.
