Q: Final Cut Pro X Issues with 2k Video Footage

Hello,

I'm brand new to FCP X, I'm importing 2.k footage shot from a drone into my project but having a few issues. First, I'm not understanding as to why it is needing to render when adding footage to the timeline, I clicked "ok" to add the settings below.  The footage renders and then there is choppy playback too.

Now, second, why is there is black frame around the video and I do not know how to get rid of that.  When I was importing to the timeline it gives me this message. *see photo and I clicked "ok" as stated.

Thank you very much for your help!

Open one of clips in the QuickTime player and report exactly what it says in the inspector window.

That popup appears if the video is in a non-standard format and requires a custom project setting, but need to no information about the actual media otherwise guessing.

Choppy playback may be a drive problem. Rendered media is in a high quality codec with a high data rate and requires high speed drives.

Hi Tom, here is a screenshot of the media.  I'm editing on an external G-Drive 6tb using USB 3.0.

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean by open, not sure how to open a clip in the quicktime player, do you mean in the project timeline, library, or export and open the clip, or get info?...confused.

TThat's Finder info for the file. You've found the file. Just double click to open the QT player. Even in the Finder you can see that the frame sizes don't match. Need the rest of the info.

ALso show system info for the USB bus to see if any things slowing it down.

YYou got Finder info for the file. To do that you found the clip. That's the clip you want to open. The file  called DJI_0001 in the Finder. Double-click it.

SOmethings weird on the USB bus. It should show the drive. I'm not seeing a drive there.
