Q: Updating to Sierra deleted my files
I updated my MacBook to the Sierra OS and lost all of my files.
After it finished installing and the login screen came up, my user profile was gone. There was only the Guest profile. After chatting with Apple support and even letting them remote in on my laptop, they were not able to help me. According to them my only option is using a third party company to recover my files which would be costly and there's no guarantee of success.
I've lost years worth of graphic design work all because I wanted to download Garage Band and it required that I get Sierra. And I know, shame on me for not backing up my files in a few years.
Is this a common issue with this OS? Does anyone know something Apple Support doesn't about recovering those files?
