Q: Connection Issue

I have iTunes version 12.1.2 installed on my windows XP PC. I recently installed iOS 10.0.2 on my iPhone 5s.

I tried to sync my iPhone to iTunes and an error pops up. As follows: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone (name of phone) because an invalid response was received from the device" Ive PC tried re-plugging (unplugging and plugging back) the phone several times with the same error message. I tried a different cable, same thing. I tried rebooting the phone and my PC, with no luck. Even tried plugging the phone into my PC while the phone was off and iTunes on screen. And also tried the same but with iTunes not launched, still same problem.

Is this a problem with iOS 10? Any would be appreciated.

iPhone 5s, iOS 10.0.2

    Hello dramired!

Thanks for reaching out and using Apple Support Communities!  We see from your forum post that you are having trouble using your iPhone 5s with iTunes on your PC. Thanks for also including the iTunes version you are using as well as the version of Windows you have running on your PC.

The release of iOS 10 was also accompanied with an update to iTunes, which is version 12.5.1. iTunes 12.5.1 is required in order to connect and sync any devices using iOS 10 on your PC, which means you will need to update your iTunes version.  In order to upgrade and run iTunes 12.5.1, your PC must be running Windows 7 or later.

For more details, please check out this link regarding this update for iTunes: Download iTunes 12.5.1

Let us know if this answers your question.

    Kindest Regards.
