IMREALLYFRUSTRATED

Q: my safari wont open, it says its not compatible with mac os sierra

I updated my macbook pro to mac os sierra about an hour ago but now I can't open safari. When I click on the safari icon a popup screen shows up and says 'You can't use this version of the application "Safari" with this verison of Mac OS. You have safari 9.0.1" I've tried to find a solution and tried to find a way to update safari but theres no update in the app store, so i have no idea what to do. I'm on chrome currently.

My Mac with Sierra install is running Safari 10.0

    How did you install Sierra?

Did you move anything around in the Applications folder?

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart) and select Recovery Volume. Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.
