I have a 2011 mac mini running Mavericks. are there any problems I should look for when upgrading to Sierra? I have a 1.5 Mbps connection, will it take forever to download and install Sierra?

2 Gb memory, not sure about RAM
RAM is memory.
2 GB is enough to install Sierra but if you want to run anything besides OS X you are going to have to increase the amount of RAM. 4 GB is a more realistic minimum but more is better if your Mac can handle more.
