wifi card type

How do I find the exact wifi card type in my mid 2010 Macbook pro. System information states

AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8D)

I know the card is a Broadcom but I do not see how to identify the exact model.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Hello macfrombrampton,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important finding out more about the hardware in your MacBook Pro is to you! The good news is the following steps will be helpful in resolving your issue and find more info about your Wi-Fi hardware in your MacBook Pro. In System Information, click on the Network option in the left side bar, then click on the specific Wi-Fi option, just below WWAN. In the Interfaces section, en1 firmware should list the name of the Wi-Fi card. After checking this on 3 of my Macs, 2 have a Broadcom and 1 has an Atheros. If you're having an issue with Wi-Fi hardware specifically, I would make sure your EFI and SMC firmware is up to date.

OS X: About System Information and System Profiler
About EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Mac computers
OS X Yosemite: About Wireless Diagnostics

Cheers!
