iPhone 7 & straight talk

I have/bought a straight talk iPhone 5S & when I setup it up I got a message " congratulations now set up, AT&T" years ago.

I want the new iPhone 7 and use straight talk, I've been doing some searching & seems it can be done, though will there be any issues down the road with straight talk since I brought my own phone.

With new info, Qualcomm models like Verizon model, would do better in bad reception areas, vs intel like AT&T. I would like to have the Qualcomm version but Verizon coverage might not be as good as AT&T here. & T mobile coverage ***** here, if any.

Though to buy a unlocked iPhone from Apple people say you have to choose T mobile to buy one if you don't have a Verizon or AT&T plan already, I don't want T mobile service through straight talk.

I want AT&T service with Qualcomm version if possible if not then intel will have to do.

Some say I can just take out my SIM card from my iPhone 5S & put into the iPhone 7 & it'll work, true ? Or need to buy a new SIM card ? I assume the SIM card is set up as a AT&T card.

If I buy a unlocked T mobile iPhone 7 from Apple will it run on straight talk AT&T ? Can you take a unlocked verizon iPhone 7 & run it on straight talk AT&T plan & can you pull the 5S SIM card (set up as AT&T but straight talk) & put into a Verizon but straight talk still.

I'm confused as to which to buy, I want the iPhone 7 ( better version if possible) and using straight talk.

Thats what I'd think but why does Apple sell different models for different companies,

& only allow certain models to be sold with a contract to those companies.

why not just 1 model for all companies and all unlocked.

so you say I can buy a Verizon model from Apple w/o contract and take it to straight talk

& have it work with AT&T towers ?

*** Update ***

It works !

- you don't need any account with any cell carrier to buy the iPhone you want, like some people are saying.

I walked into the Apple Store and said I want the 1660 model - because it has Qualcomm in it ( which is better ) & works on more providers ( if I choose to switch later )

Even told the person it's going on straight talk = no problem here's your phone.

- I bought the 1660 model which they say it's Verizon/ sprint phone.

- bought the " bring your own phone activation kit " for straight talk

- got on wi-fi at home to set up phone, with new SIM card in

- called straight talk from the old iPhone I use and choose transfer number. Was very simple, typed in new SIM card number and I was done, then just waited about 5 minutes for transfer to happen.

- all done & I have a so called "" Verizon "" CDMA phone running on AT&T GSM towers through Straight Talk

Got the better model and running on the towers I want with a better price, so it's a win win for me.

Forgot to mention pulling your old SIM card from your straight talk phone and putting into your new phone might work ?

I don't know because I didn't choose that route since I still need a phone to use, though I think it's very possible that just swapping SIM cards would work, you'll need another 3rd phone to use for this method.

Buying that kit is not a big waste of money, you do get a 30 day plan with so it's about $5-$8 for the SIM cards vs waiting 2 days in the mail for them to send you a free SIM card.
