Installed macOS Sierra and now USB ports don't recognise devices

Hi

Currently Using iMac mid 2010 (3.06 i3, 12GB RAM) and have updated to macOS Sierra (v10.12), upon updating the USB ports don't recognise devices. These aren't third party devices, my mac will not recognise my iPhone 6s using an official apple cable, will not charge, i tunes doesn't show it is connected.

I have previously searched for this problem, noticed it was an issue back in July with beta versions of Sierra and have followed the steps some people suggested fixes. So i have reset SMC and also reinstalled sierra via cmd + r on restart and it still doesn't work.

I currently cannot sync my phone with anything as i don't have sync over wifi enabled.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks

VIN, iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), macOS Sierra (10.12)

HI

thanks for the reply went an found a couple of other usb devices to try including an iPad and they worked, except an external hard drive which i had plugged into my mac when i upgraded to Sierra, same as the 6s.

SO things that were plugged in didn't work, any more. Got curious and swapped cables around and the devices work, including my 6s. Looks like any cable that was plugged in as i updated to Sierra now don't work. Which is sad, but at least i can get my phone reconnected again.

Regret not checking cables first, but thanks for replaying and prompting me to do it.
