Q: iPhone 5s won't sync and iTunes won't update

Hi,

I use iTunes on Windows 7 Business Laptop and iOS 10.0.2 on iP5s. Last week i couldn't sync my iP anymore. So I downloaded latest 64 bit iTunes 12.5.1.21 x64. iTunes installation program starts but then it stops with following error message (freely translated from German).

"There is a problem regarding this Windows installation package. A program essential for this installation could not be executed. Contact your support or the producer of this package."

Has this occured to anybody else with similar components and did you find a solution?

Hi,

tried to follow the deinstallation steps at:
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support

I could deinstall iTunes but deinstallation of component "Apple Software Update" had the same error than the installer of iTunes, which is:

"There is a problem regarding this Windows installation package. A program essential for this installation could not be executed. Contact your support or the producer of this package."
