Q: Why did my iphone download 255 songs without authorization costing me $45?
Unfortunately I let Apple goad me into upgrading to ios 10 before the third corrective update, which is my policy. And, as I should have expected, I am sitting on Sunday morning, not working on my own projects or relaxing, but dealing with my darn phone. OK, here goes...
So I updated to ios 10 and somehow, even though I use the iCloud music library feature, the music app decided to download 255 songs onto my phone last night, over cellular. I got a nice notice from Verizon this morning informing me of $45 in data overage charges.
I don't know why Music decided to download the songs, how it chose the songs it did, or why in the upgrade the Download Over Cellular switch got toggled on.
Apple, I suggest maybe you turn off the nagging upgrade pop-up messages if things aren't working. maybe wait until ios 10.5 before nagging.
BTW, I use star ratings as my main way of sending songs to various playlists (running, etc.) now what do I do now that they are gone?
And actually, I think I'm out $60 because there isn't much data left even with the overage boosts from Verizon so I'll likely have to shell out another $15 to get me through the rest of my month. Maybe more if ios 10 has more surprises in store...
Oh yeah, my battery process is messed up now too. When I get around 65% the indicator drops to 1%, gives me a low power warning, then turns off. Plug it into power, poof! within 10 seconds its back to wherever it was before the sudden plunge to 1%.
Oh yeah, and iTunes is reporting 10+ GB free on my phone while the phone says 1.7 GB with all the wonderful new songs now downloaded into memory.
Having a great time here.
