Q: HughesNet satellite modem TurboPage not working properly with Sierra?
I installed Mac OS Sierra on Oct 1st. It was horribly slow accessing any website, timed out often, especially on in-line links. Thinking my HughesNet satellite service was down, I checked the System Status page, which was "Red Flagged' at the Turbo Page TTMP Status line, even though it was "Enabled". I reset it to "Enabled" again, but the Red Flag reappeared. The System Status button at the top, which is supposed to be Green, was sick yellow.
I reset the Turbo Page TTMP Status to "Disabled", and the System Status button returned to Green, but the service was somewhat slower than smoke signals. It took me 20+ minutes to navigate from Hughes home page to their email service request form. Then it crashed when I hit the send email button. So that was no help.
Now, I'm beginning to think Sierra is the cause of the problem. I've turned off all computers with Sierra on my network, and I'm using a Macmini (June 2009) with el Capitan. The Hughes Modem Status button was sick yellow (degraded), the TTMP Status line was red flagged. So I did a hard Reset and when the Modum Status page reappeared, all was well. Status Button was Green, TurboPage TTMP item was idle, no red flag.
In another browser window on the same computer, I checked many websites, all of which came up properly and fairly quickly (Hughes is NEVER really fast). The TurboPage TTMP Status changes from idle to Enabled when accessing something. It has been working for an hour or so perfectly... which has not been the case for the past 20 days or so. Usually it goes south on me within 15 minutes.
Anyone else using Hughes Net out there? Have you seen this problem?
