Q: iMessages are missing but everything else backed up correctly

I recently restored my gfs iPhone and I signed into her iCloud account. It was stuck on the apple logo so I restored it to factory settings.

All the pictures and contacts restored correctly and are still there. The iMessages are not there though. She's able to send and receive messages but all her old messages are gone. She has switched between iPhones in the past and her messages always recovered correctly, so she doesn't have a backup set up.

How can I fix this.

iPhone 5c, iOS 10.0.3

Did you do a backup just prior to restoring the device? If you restored to factory, as you state, did you restore a backup after that or set the device up as new, not using a backup? If you did not use a backup, either iTunes or iCloud, then there is no place for to you restore the iMessages from. They exist in the backup, not loosely in iCloud. You would have to restore a backup, preferably the latest one, to restore messages.
