Keychain displays dots instead of password.

I ran into an issue with a particular website that somehow appears to corrupt the password that gets saved in Keychain.

Using an Apple Mac Book Pro (late 2013) with osSierra 10.12, I saved my login credentials on the website and when I logout and try to log back in it fails. I checked the password in Keychain and all it shows are dots. When I view the account info in Safari, it too shows only dots and not the password, and finally on my iPhone 6s Plus with iOS 10.0.2 it shows dots as well. I've spoken with Apple tech support and because it's only happening with battle.net and not any other sites they've asked me to reach out to you. If I manually type the password in I login successfully.

Things I've done for troubleshooting. Deleted account info from Safari and verified info is gone from iPhone and Keychain. Saved credentials during login, logged out and attempted login and using saved credentials it failed.

In iCloud settings I deselected Safari, removed account info from Safari and verified it was deleted from Keychain as well. Saved credentials as I logged back into website, logged out and attempted to login with newly saved credentials and it failed again, so this eliminated the possibility of the iCloud Keychain causing the corruption.

Thank you.

Update from battle.net so those of you involved so far can see what's transpiring.

Game Master here to assist you, and I understand that there are some troubles with your saved credentials when logging into battle.net.

Good news! I was able to do some digging around, and found some steps which may help us resolve this 🙂

The Autofill feature of Safari makes logging in to websites much easier in iOS, not having to remember and type in every single password for every website is super nice and saves time as well.

While saving passwords with autofill is undoubtedly helpful, it can also be troublesome when a password is updated or changed and not saved in the autofill option.

Please return to the passwords and autofill page, and select "saved passwords" once more, then tap on the “Edit” button then choose battle.net , then tap on “Delete” to remove all saved password and login details for our website.

Once this is completed, please check your e-mail! I have submitted a password reset, which you can then choose to save for the autofill.

This should do the trick and update the autofill option for us! If the issue persists, please hit us back up for additional troubleshooting, and include any new information or changes.

This did not solve the issue, I've tried it already. I did however delete the dots in the password field in Keychain and manually entered a new password. Saved changes and TADA!! It worked as it should. I suspect that somewhere along the way in the save process the password is getting corrupted. I am not a developer so I can't go any further than this :-(

tygb I think you're missing my point. I want the credentials saved, it prevents me from having to remember a password that 16 characters in length. The problem as noted above is when I do provide Admin authentication to view the password it shows up as dots and not the password itself as with other sites. This is a situation with either battle.net's web site or Keychain or both who knows. At this time as noted above the request has been sent to battle.net and as shown above I discussed it with Apple.

Thanks
