My Symbol LS4278 barcode scanner no longer works after upgrade to Sierra. I was able to just plug it in to a USB port before and it worked fine inputting barcodes into dialog boxes. I mainly use it to read UPC codes when I am uploading items for sale on Amazon or eBay.
Looking for a fix or drivers thatvwill alow me to use this device again.

I don't have much recent experience with barcode readers, but my understanding is that these typically behave like a USB keyboard, and essentially "type" the numbers from the barcode to the computer. Out of curiosity, have you tried it with another computer, just to verify that it's working?
I've seen some people recommend the dreaded PRAM reset and SMC reset as possible remedies for keyboard problems; you could also try deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist to complete reset the keyboard settings. No promises on any of those ideas, though!
