Lexmark Printer

After setting up my network I tried many times to add my printer to my home network. I created a network on my Windows XP desktop, and opened up windows sharing and printer sharing on my mac, but it didn't work. So I just decided when I need to print something off my mac I will just directly connect it to my printer through the USB port.

When I connect it it shows up in my print dialog on my macbook, but when I hit print nothing happens. My printer is on and everything, but nothing prints. Would anybody know what exactly is happening here?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

There are two ways to connect a Lexmark printer to a Mac. The first is to use
System Preferences > Print & Fax > Printing (tab) > + to add a new printer. After clicking on + you need to select one of the existing printers, then change the details to your current Lexmark model in the "Print using:" combo box. If you're lucky, your Lexmark model will be listed.

If your Lexmark model isn't listed then download a new driver from Lexmark's web site: www.lexmark.com. I successfully installed drivers for my X1100 a couple of weeks ago by downloading from the web. It works just fine.
