I get the error: Itunes could not connect to the iphone "iphone" because a invalid response was received from the device. Why is this and how do i correct it? Everthuing is upto date on my mac and iphone 6s plus is 1 day old.... Thanks

What version of iTunes do you have exactly, on What OSx version? Tell us the version number , saying its up to date is not really helpful.
You need iTunes 12.5.1. to sync with an iPhone running iOS 10.
