Mac won't start up; peerManager is missing

Earlier today I tried to start up my Mac mini. Apple logo and progress bar came up, but the progress bar started filling slower and slower as time passed, until eventually it stopped at 100% and did nothing. Retried startup, but same thing happens every time, I even tried safe mode but to no avail. So I decided to boot in SUM and see if I could spy any error messages. There's a lot of stuff here that looks unfamiliar, but I saw one line that seems to be repeating a lot:

IO80211Interface::updateReport _peerManager is missing

i have no clue what this means or if it's fixable. Tried fsck and it didn't help. I'm out of ideas and a Google search turned up nothing. Help?

- If you do not have a backup use disk utility to restore the internal disk to an external disk so you can try to recover data.

Then format the startup disk and do a fresh install of OSX

Hi, I have the same issue on a MacBook Pro 2011. I tried to startup the machine using almost all keys combination, but nothing seems to help so far. Hardware diagnostic over the Internet has not shown any issue, so it's likely to be a SW problem. Next I'm going to do is to install a fresh copy of the os over the internet and then recover the data I backup up through time machine.

Hi cheesehead84,

I experienced the same symptoms immediately following a power outage. I tried all the usual steps (zap pram, reset smc, safe mode, single user/fsck -fy, recovery mode/repair) and nothing helped. I have Disk Warrior on an older iMac and connected it to my mini via firewire and target disk mode. Disk Warrior did its thing and made some repairs. When I rebooted the mini, it made it past the loading screen and is now working again! Disk Warrior is pricey but it has saved me on multiple occasions. Maybe it can help you too. Good luck!

p.s. Time for me to invest in a UPS!
