Convert to SRGB?

I recently had some issues with my photos looking terrible and drab on Windows web browsers. The solution turned out to be to convert my photos to the sRGB color profile before posting them to the Web. I can do that in Photoshop Elements, but it's a hassle to have to do it for every photo. Is there any way to make iPhoto convert the photos?

If it matters, I'm shooting in RAW with a Canon Digital Rebel--as far as I can tell, there's no way to tell the camera to shoot in sRGB, as some have suggested in similar threads in this forum.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I've created an Automator Workflow, Embed sRGB Profile, to embed that profile on any image file that is dropped on it. You can download it from Toad's Cellar.

It works on jpg and tif files but I've not had a chance to test it on RAW. I don't know how the RAW files handle profiles but you can download the application and give it a try. You might have to run it on the jpg versions that iPhoto creates upon import of a RAW file.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
