Recovering lost iMovie projects

I have a MacBook Pro (late 2011) running El Capitan. I was using iMovie 10.1.2 editing raw camera footage from my daughter's wedding when my grand daughter's was messing around with my laptop and whatever keystrokes she made managed to corrupt the iMovie app. I tried a few things like deleting preferences and trying to recover the app, but to no avail. Then I deleted the iMovie app from the Applications folder and downloaded a new copy of it from the Apps Store. I managed to get the app working again, but now I cannot access any of the original data. Please tell me there is a way to recover my lost data (projects). The iMovie app that I deleted is still in the Trash so I can put it back if needed. Where are the projects located anyway? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Your projects and events are in your iMovie Library which by default is in your Movies Folder so you should find it there if you have not moved it. In iMovie have you tried to open your library? Use file open library and choose your library. This should restore your projects and events. If whatever your daughter did deleted your library then you are out of luck unless you have a time machine or other backup. First try to open the library. If that fails look in the movies folder to see if you still have the library. If not then resort from backup. If you do then it is damaged. If this is the case post back as there are some other steps to try and recover your original media.
