Q: Photos App in Mac won't sync with iCloud

I am having trouble with the connection between iCloud and Photos App in my Mac. Here are some problems I've been able to detect:

 

  • I have the option "Optimize Mac Storage" turned on, if I try to see in full resolution the following error appears: "An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later."
  • If I try to export an image, the following error appears: "An internet connection is required to download a larger version of these items for exporting."
  • Also, all the recently imported photos to the app, are not sycing to the iCloud.

 

I've seen a lot of people has these problems; restarting my mac didn't work and I have also checked firewall options.

 

These are 3 problems in one post, but I think the solution for these may be the same, since the problem is in general the connection between Photos app and iCloud..

    We need details

     

    what version of the OS and Photos do you have? What are your iCloud settings on the Mac and on IOS devices? what is the iCLoud status on each device?

     

    My guess is that the initial upload has not completed the initial upload of photos - until it does things are wonky

    It is macOS Sierra 10.12 and the Photos App is Version 2.0 (445.1.15)

     

    The iCloud Settings for Photos are the following:

    All other devices work perfectly fine, I can download the photos that are already uploaded from icloud.com, I can download and see them on my iPhone...

     

    I recently added many photos to the Photos App through the Mac, and they are not syncing.... I left the lap top on connected to the internet overnight and there was no progresss....
