iPhone 7 poor signal

after updating 10.1, my iphone 7 still get 2 or 3 signal strength. I put the sim card to my iphone 5 and it's 5 signal strength. I lived in downtown, dc, so it shouldn't have this signal problem. And I use at&t. Does anyone have the same problem even you updated 10.1. I am not sure it's hardware problem or software problem. I just disappointed about apple.

Hey Everstsky,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I can see from your post that the signal on your iPhone 7 does not appear as strong as on your iPhone 5. It's important to have a reliable cellular connection and I have a few steps below that can help get this resolved (some are things you have already tried, but it's worth trying them again in order). While these steps are generally intended for issues with no connection, they may also be helpful for signal strength issue:
  1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Check for a Carrier Settings Update.
  3. Update your iPhone or iPad to the latest version of iOS.
  4. Take out the SIM card and put it back in. If the SIM card is damaged or doesn't fit in the SIM tray, contact your carrier.
  5. Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.
  6. If you have another device, see if you can connect your carrier's network with it in that location.
  7. Contact your carrier to:
    • Verify that your account is active and in good standing.
    • Make sure there are no outages in your area.
    • Check that your device isn't blocked from receiving cellular services and is set up with the right data plan.

If you can't connect to a cellular network or cellular data - Apple Support
If you are still having connection strength issues and have confirmed with your carrier that there isn't an issue with your account or network, try restoring your device.
Regards.
