DNS Services consuming significant amounts of cellular data (1.7 GB in 10 days!)

Hi all,

I was noticing that my iPhone was burning through a lot of data, very quickly, so I reset the data usage statistics in Settings > Cellular.

Within 10 days, the data continued to be heavily consumed, but I just checked and, under Settings > Cellular > System Services, my "DNS Services" has used up nearly 1.7 gigabytes of data, making it by far the heaviest consumer of data on my phone. In just 10 days!

This seems way out of norm.

I understand what DNS services are -- what I don't understand is how I could possibly go through that much data, that quickly, with just 10 days time.

Any suggestions or thoughts are welcome!

I would suggest you ask your carrier and/or ISP. They set those DNS numbers for you.

Check your "background app refresh" settings as well and perhaps toggle all apps off to start, and than back on one by one to find the offending app. This setting is primarily for data, but if the app can't "find home" that could explain the numerous DNS requests.
